Cloak of a true believer

Hadrat Muadh bin Anas (r.a.) reported: ‘The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, “Whoever gives up wearing elegant and expensive garments out of humbleness, when he can do so, Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection and before all the creations, He will give him the choice to wear whichever garment of ‘Iman’ he would like to wear.”

The cloak of a true believer who sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day should be modesty and humility.  If one gives up the wearing of elegant or expensive clothes (or indulging in extravagance and luxury) when one has the ability to do so, Allah Subhanah will bestow honor on such a believer in front of all creation on the Day of Resurrection.

Modesty and humility – both of these are seriously lacking amongst the Ummah. These are the virtues meant to promote equality among us and keep us from looking down on others.

    ~Absolutely 🙂

Hadith quite helpful for those of us who import Bangladeshi clothes and sell it here in Canada – clothes are cheap and definitely not arrogant! 😀

Although I have to say this Hadith should be taken in context of another hadith where the Prophet said “if Allah has given you favours let Him see the signs of His blessings on you.”

There has to be a balance.

    ~ SubhanAllah!

Unfortunately, those who are modest and humble are termed as under-confident, especially in the corporate world of today and are not preferred as employees.

    ~Yeah, that’s a bitter truth 😦

House in Paradise!

Narrated AbuUmamah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise for a man who avoids quarrelling even if he were in the right, a house in the middle of Paradise for a man who avoids lying even if he were joking, and a house in the upper part of Paradise for a man who made his character good.(Sunan Abu Dawood,Book 41, Number 4782)
